We’ve designed our doors to do more than look good – they’ll help to keep your home comfortable too.
PVC-U is an effective insulator and we use a multichambered design for our door frames that provides an air barrier between the warmth indoors and the outside chill.
When combined with our standard, 28mm-thick double glazing and seals that prevent draughts and air leakage, you don’t need to worry about keeping warm in the winter.
The thermal performance of windows and doors is covered by Building Regulations which set down minimum standards permissible for new glazing. These are defined in terms of Window Energy Ratings – also known as WERs – and Door Set Energy Ratings – DSERs – which use a banding system and a rainbow coloured scheme to denote performance.
The performance of an individual door is a result of its size, configuration and the make-up of the sealed glazing unit – glass can be treated to act as an insulator or a reflector – but it’s worth knowing that PatioMaster sliding doors can achieve a band A+ rating and a U-value as low as 1.0 W/m2K.
When insulation and thermal performance are the key to saving on fuel bills, it makes sense to choose PatioMaster.
